Subject: 185R14 vs 205R16 tires - I posted pictures!

I was rotating the tires on my Syncro today and I used my 205R16 Iltis wheel to hold up the corner that I was rotating the wheel from. What a size difference between stock 185R14 and the 205R16 used on the Syncro 16!

Far away shot of the 205R16 http://www.volkswagen.org/vanagon/wheels/2058016.jpg Close up of the 205R16 http://www.volkswagen.org/vanagon/wheels/2058016a.jpg 25.5" tall 185R14 verses 29" tall 205R16 http://www.volkswagen.org/vanagon/wheels/2058016vs1858014.jpg 26.5" tall 225/60R16 verses 29" tall 205R16 http://www.volkswagen.org/vanagon/wheels/2058016vs2256016.jpg

The Iltis wheel is 16 x 5.5" ET 65mm it is was very noticeably "inward" on the Syncro.

Front end clearance on my Double Cab was quite good. It would take a fat tire to make anything rub. Rear clearance is a little more of an issue as the tire was just millimetres away from the front of the trailing arm - Syncro 16 trailing arms are a must here!
