Thanks Steve,

Tinning is simply putting a light coat of solder on the iron and the wires to be joined. Is this right? Does a person need to wipe the iron with a wet cloth and re-tin occasionally while working?

I have the rosin type liquid flux, it seemed to work better using this. But I wasn't tinning the wire, only the iron.
