The fuel pump doesn't regulate the fuel pressure - the fuel pressure regulator does. The Vanagons fuel pressure regulator will keep everything in check. Most Bosch pumps can do 125 PSI if you let them! I have used Vanagon pumps to drive CIS-Motronic engines which needs up to 80 PSI to operate - way more than the Digijet / Digifant 1 system needs. Rabbit fuel injection systems lower the system pressure to about 25 PSI when the engine is stone cold and the fuel pressure regulator builds pressure up to about 65 to 70 PSI depending on what the fuel distributor is set to.

David, That may work for a while, but the Jetta/Golf pumps put out twice the pressure than the WBX pump. Was the Rabbit FI using lower pressure? If not, I expect problems may occur with either the pump or the pressure regulator. When I switched my Westy from Jetta power to Subaru, the pump howled like a banshee, so I had to install a WBX pump to match the pressure requirements. Larry PS-Received the OME's today, thanks!
