I agree. The 50/50 mix is dictated by the varying conditions that Vanagons will see. Anti-Freeze by itelf is a lousy thermal conductor. If cooling efficiency is your goal, run straight H2O (theoretically, corrosion resistance not considered!). If you're in a cold climate move the mix toward more anti-freeze since you're not worried about cooling efficiency.
