Hello, all.

In the end, despite all my trying, my desired vanagon didn't work out. CA emissions tests proved too stringent for it, and I didn't want to deal with the smogging.

However, I've promised to advertise the van, which really is in good shape on the list for the owner. If anyone wants details about the smog problem, contact me directly -- it's not as serious as it could be.

The specifics: '84 GL Blue-gray Mileage: ca. 150,000 (odometer stopped at 130,000). Engine: No leaks. Rumored to have been rebuilt, though details are not known. Contact: Alexander (Ally): 510-524-6821, in Berkeley, CA or me, for an objective report, at this email address

Hope this interests someone. I'll stay on the list for the next few days, in case someone has on-list questions.

Sorry I couldn't join the vanagon clan!

best, Jon --- Jonathan Rhodes Lee jrlee@mailandnews.com
