This happened all the time with my 1991 Jetta that I used to own and my 1987
Audi 5K Quattro that I have now. Chances are your seats are cloth and not
vinyl and sliding your bottom end over the seat creates a charge then when
you ground yourself out on the van's body - zap!

When I get out of my van, I place my left hand on the panel in question, and
get a shock from it!!!! I found a little chip in the paint (Yep, right
where my butt cheeks slide across). Why am I getting a shock? Is this an
indication of a bad ground, or would you call it relatively normal??
