Hey all. First of all I tend to attract all the nutcases, but this one sounds interesting. Someone pulled into my driveway this afternoon in a rabbit with an offer of an 82 diesel westy for 1,000 He pulled the diesel and replaced it with an 1800 gas engine from a scirocco. The camping gear is in good shape and all works, he said. Some rust at the bottom of one side window and now seam rust. Does this sound like a good deal. The engine has a carb and isn't fuel injected. I presently have an 80 westy that I just rebuilt the engine in. Is this something I should add to my ever-burgeoning collection? He's heading back to florida on Monday and wants to get rid of it and a 73 bug for $600. He drove the camper up from florida, we're in southside virginia, and except for short trips, it has been parked for about 14 months. Let me know something. I'm going to call him back friday and possibly go look at it Sunday. Onward thru the fog David Conner terrapin@halifax.com
