This is true. We ended up switching to CB use. The FRS radios were very hard to understand, though they had about the same range as CB. We ended up saying "What?" a lot. The CB was much clearer. I use the Cobra 75 WX ST, which has some sort of 'SoundTracker' technology to improve transmission and reception of CB radio signals. Seemed to work.
