You were very fortunate that this simple fix worked. I had a noisy lifter on my 86GL that ultimately lead to a burnt valve. $$$$ for repairs. Runs good now...wish I had a real mechanic look into it sooner. A word to the wise: A noisy lifter may be telling you something (whether you want to listen or not.)
