I paid about $400. It all depends on what parts and what is done. Some pads cost more than others. Some brake jobs are more extensive than others... like is he going to change the brake fluid?

Get him to list everything he's going to do and the price... an estimate. If you think it's too high then you have and list of what he's going to do so that you can get prices at other shops and be comparing apples with apples...
