Ben, I have a set on my Syncro, which originally came with steel wheels, and the stock length studs are fine. Plenty of threads. Not sure why he would have gone to all the trouble of notching two wheels, the drum retaining screws are totally unnecessary anyway. The SA rear drums, by the way, don't have holes for the screws.
