I wrote last week about an intermittently buzzing fuel pump and a funky
idle.  After driving a bit yesterday, thereby giving the engine a chance
to warm up fully, the idle speed would oscillate between 1400 and 1000
every 1/2 second or so.  When cold, it would often stay around 1400 and
just dip to 1000 on occasion.  In any case, I noted that this problem
seemed to occur after I had done some work under the hood.  Among other
things, I changed the cap and rotor.  Well, it turns out that I must have
knocked off a very thin (1/4"?)air hose in the process of doing this work.
This hose is located a few inches below and behind the distributor (when
standing at the back and facing the engine.  It's hard to see unless
you're looking for it, and I hope that this info may help others having
idling problems similar to that described above.

Meanwhile, the buzzing fuel pump is too intermittent to diagnose with
certainty.  It seems to happen more when idling, but it's not consistent.
Perhaps i just can't hear it as well when driving.

Thanks again to all who offered help.  If only all problems were as easy
to fix as vacuum leaks......
