The Vanagon.com site is far more extensive than I first thought !! Thanks to all that have showed me the light. KUDOS to whomever designed and maintains the site !! It's far more user friendly than the vintagebus/type2 archives. And a lot more information.I really enjoyed the "road and track " reviews. Anyway, me being new to this water-cooled Vanagon fahrvergnuegen thing, I thought I would relay my impressions of my "new" '89 Vanagon GL Westy versus my split windows.

- Why have I waited so long to buy one ? I love it. -There are left lanes on the highways ! -All the potholes seemed to have disapeared.?. -I can actually drive in a comfortable position, -No more frost bite on my old toes -I can see out the side windows and mirrors(heck, it's like driving a fish bowl ), -I don't have to bend over to see if that red light has changed to green. -My two kids love it, my wife wonders why I needed another bus.?.

-No more big smiles or peace signs from any kids in passing cars ? :-( -All those coolant hoses scare me.There must be 20 of them.

-I really am enjoying it , until the bills start rolling in.

Speaking of money,

I ordered my Bentley, wiper blades, new skylight len and seals, carpet mat kit today.Tomorrow I will change oil and trans fluids.Should I use the GL4 80/90 trans fluid ? Or will GL5 be ok? (It's a manual trans) I checked the oil today and crankcase is overfilled.ouch :-( ! I will change that before I start her again. I also want to change my steel wheels to alloys.I really like the Projektzwo wheels. Is there a supplier in the states for these ? I was looking through some magazines and the 5 x 112 pattern was not listed as available thru any of the wheel makers I found. Is this a Vw. only pattern ? Mercedes also ? Thanks for ALL your help,
