Subject: '93 Eurovan Engine/Tranny Replacement
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

Dear Vanagon List:

I either need some advice or some sympathy. I have a '93 Eurovan; the "top end" of the 5-cyl engine is shot and the differential bearing in the 5-spd tranny is wearing out. Can I fit a used VR6 from a wrecked Audi into it or should I just get someone to do a ring job on the 5-cyl? Also what about the tranny - rebuild it, buy a new one or repace it with a automatic?

I think I have a few months before anything is going to drop out but I need to start thinking about what my options are. Thanks for any advice.

Russell Gunter Woodbridge, VA
