Hi Peter:

I started the Vanagon, bled the radiator (some) and backed it 30 feet from the side of the house into the driveway. So it's walking. But it isn't running yet. There are two thin vacuum lines (one white, one lavender) that emerge from the firewall in the engine compartment near the new location for the coil. These vacuum lines used to be attached to the wasserboxer. What do I do with them? There are also two 1/4 inch brass hose barbs on the intake manifold/throttle body just under where I attached the accelerator cable. What are these hose barbs for? I have not replaced the switch on my power steering pump because I don't have the block off (not supplied). Is this OK? I haven't done the inital timing because I figured it had to have some sort of ignition timing done when it was "hot tested" in SA, and I wanted some clarification on the timing mark location. I haven't yet wired up my O2 sensor. I'm a little nervous about damaging the new wiring harness in the course of doing the modification. Finally could you get me the telephone # of someone near me (100 radius) who will set my CO in case I can't find a garage that will do this? Thank-you. I will continue to harass you by telephone until my vanagon is running.

Regards

John Koloski

P.S. I don't know where the bleeder valve for the coolant is in the engine compartment, so I only bled from the radiator. The bleeder valve on the old wasserboxer is still on the old wasserboxer. Is there a bleeder valve somewhere on the in-line 4? I haven't installed my stone shields yet.
