Subject: Wheel Knocking?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Hello all, we are finally pulling into Dallas, TX after 8K miles of touring around the southwest. All-in-all the van has run great. I'll give a more complete trip report later but I have an immediate problem I need to look into soon.

I have a knocking coming from the rear passenger side wheel. It knocks in time with the rotation of the wheel (independent of the speed of the engine). It only appears once the car is warmed up (about 15 miles of highway driving) and is cranking up an incline and only from the right rear. Turning a corner or letting up on the gas makes it go away. CV joint? Wheel bearing? Ideas? I don't think it is the transmission because I would guess the sound would come more from the center. Are the CV joints and Wheel bearings easy to change?

Anybody have a good recommendation for a Vanagon Doctor in the Dallas area?

I'll have more photos from the trip up on my web site soon.

Thanks in advance,
