Subject: Emissions Help in VA
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Help! Just bought a used 84" Westfalia, very nice shape and a very good deal. Had it VA inspected and emissions tested. Pasted the inspection, got tags and I am on the road, BUT it failed the emissions by a fair bit. At 15 MPH: HC ppm limit is 183, I was 271 CO% limit is 1.65, I was 9.75 At 25 MPH: HC ppm limit is 179, van was 268 CO% limit is 2.22, van was 9.73 I got one suggestion to have van warm and running for over 30 min., because Vanagons run rich when cold, or not warmed up.

Any other ideas or help? I have 30 days to fix it. Thanks, Matthew E. Utterback in VA
