This goes in the for what it's worth dept.  I have one of those bolt onto
the bottom type block heaters that VW has.  It has bee the best engine
heater I've owned.  It took 15 minutes to install (it took more time trying
to determine where to route the wire than it did installing it)  and has
worked extremely well, to include 4 years in Wyoming where it gets into the
sub-zeroteen range and blows 40kts of wind for a week or so.

and my gut feeling about adding something more to the cooling system just
doesn't feel right based on things that leak.
