I am planning a swap but trying to do all my homework first. I have an 82 Westy with 1.6D. I really do not want to have to create the motor mount that Martin Jag. has speced out on his sight. I have a new 1.9D block in garage that I got from Ken Wilford in Millville, NJ He got this motor via a CA company that does a minor modification to the intake and exhaust ports so I can use a 1.6 intake and exhaust setup. I have both turbo from 83 1.6TD Rabbit and stock 1.6 setup from my current motor. I am wondering if you know for sure if the waste gate will clear the motor mount, if I use the TD setup. I guy I met at a Manasas Bugout a few years back said he moved the stock posotion of the waste gate and turned it towards to block to get clearance from the left motor mount. The difference here was he but Jetta TD setup on his stock 1.6D block, and never even dropped the motor. I have heard rumors that it will clear it, does anyone know for sure? Thanks, I guess I should post this to thKen, I got your name from the vanagon list. I was wondering if I could get some more info about your 1.6 to 1.9 swap.
