Volks:

This is my first message to this list, but I feel compelled to write. For two years I was an active participant on the type 2 list (I owned a '71) but after I rolled it (after completely restoring it) I vowed I wouldn't get back into another one. However, having read about the enhanced safety aspects of Vanagons, and having done a research paper on the list archives, I've got the hankering again. Here's the longshot:

My daily driver is a 1967 Country Squire wagon. I love the car- It starts everytime, and it drives great. It's got new brakes ($500.) new tranny ($600.) new carb ($200.), fuel pump, exhaust (complete) and some other stuff too. It's got a 390 with a 4v, hot heat (oh, I forgot, new radiator and heater core $300.) and cold AC. And a CD player and CB radio. It's also got some minor damage on the right side where some idiot sideswiped us. I have some parts to repair it, you'd need to have panel straightening abilities, too.) The car (repaired) is worth in the 4k range. I would be willing to trade it for a Vanagon of comparable value. Obviously, I'd like one I could drive without doing work to...

You can see a picture of it at: http://www.stationwagon.com/gallery/gallery.html Go to the 1967 Country Squire (scroll to the green wagon at the bottom).

Hey...It's worth a shot after all. I'm located in Bloomington, IN.
