It is hard to determine exactly what happened "over the net" (But Dennis and Maynard both gave very good advice). I suggest you take a good friend with you who knows this stuff (maybe someone nearby on the list can help), or if in doubt bring the parts to a good Diesel mechanic. (I assume the head is off now)

How to find a good Diesel mechanic? Check the local yellowpages for Diesel fuel injection shops. Find out who is a Bosch authorized rebuilder Call them and ask for recommendations. They will know who the good Diesel mechanics are.
