Although I was trying to get the black plastic housings out(as opposed to
getting the lenses off) so I could get at the lenses, thanks to all who
helped.  broke one of the plastic tabs that creates the locking mechanism,
but the rear gasket seal for the hatch should hold them in nicely as backup.
Removing the housings made inserting the  lenses back in to the rubber
gasket lips much easier.
