Biran, you should be able to lower the front (front of the van) of the engine slightly using the jack (BTW, using a 4x4 piece of wood and a chain accross the rear compartment works a bit better and gives you more room to move under the van) and attach the tranny with the whole assembly tilted down 15deg or so towards the front of the van.

Once you have the tranny and engine mated, jack the tranny into place and bolt up the front mount.
