In Mexico!

Ben,
I have visited 25 countries in this world... mostly 3rd world countries...
and I have met good people every where. In fact, most of the people are good
and honest. And it is truly unfortunate that a few bad people can give a bad
name to a whole culture. But to put on blinders (in the name of political
correctness or anything else) and imagine that everyone is good in a big
city in any poor country with out taking precautions is insane.
That includes poor areas in big cities in the U.S. But petty theft is worse
in 3rd world countries because the poor there make the poor in the U.S look
rich! .... for these people it is a matter of eating or not eating. Under
the same circumstances I imagine I would rip off some rich tourist's driving
lights to eat too. The crime against tourists in Mexico City is well
documented.... even by people who love Mexico, its people and its culture.
That's not a reason to stay home and miss the good people and things of
Mexico... but it is definately a reason to take precautions. And to bring
the discussion back to the original post.... the same surly applies to
Tijuana in Baja.
To the credit of the people of Mexico... though you may stand a much higher
chance of being the victim of theft in a big city in Mexico.... you are much
less likely to experience bodily harm than in a big city in the U.S.....
these people just want to eat.

Go back and read the post... it was indeed about a Vanagon issue.... until
you injected your obsession with political correctness..
>It certainly
> is not for your political views nor mine.
Ben you are truly BenT on this issue of political correctness...
I made no mention of political views... it is you who are projecting
political views, a politically correct Don Quiote chasing the wind mills of
your own imagination.
>Most of my friends are Mexican
> American.
Who your friends are has noting to do with the bumper mounted driving lights
getting ripped off in Mexico.
>Are you?
Gee, for someone who professes political correctness you seem awfully
concerned with someone else's ethnicity....
>This will be the last response you will get from me on
> this matter on-list.
Gracias a Dios!
Maybe now we can get back to Vanagon lighting in Mexico.
