I agree with Tom C. The bulge is really only there for installation. I prefer the throttle valve pointing towards the rear of the van (as occurs with a 1800 digifant install) as opposed to the manifold found in (amongst others) the brazilian fox where the throttle valve is forward, actually adjacent to the bulge in the firewall. The "bulge" itself can bo around 3-4" long, 1" wide and about 1/2" deep. If you like, I'll send you a pic of my engine compartment, you can maybe get an idea of what I am talking about.
