Suggestion:
Let's use the second server for archives. As of now, the archives are
almost unusable because the searches take too long. The problem is that the
archives are not "pre-indexed". There is software that will search the
archives much more efficiently then the software we are currently using.
The package I use for my mailing list, Wilma, updates the archives on a
regular basis and pre-indexes. So any search, no matter how complex, takes
only seconds.
We can also use the second server as a NNTP server so we can read the
mailing list over a newsfeed. You would have the option of using a
Newsreader or subscribe to the list with your e-mail address. Postings from
the newsserver, would be automatically forwarded to the list. And postings
from the list will be sent to the newsfeed. In fact, this is how I read the
list, from a newsserver I installed. Eliminates the need to have 100's of
messages in my inbox. Plus the messages are threaded. If you want a demo, I
will setup a public account.
Just some ideas.
Take care,
Paul Borghese
