> I'm having my oil pressure checked tomorrow and am just wondering what is an > acceptable reading. I have an '85 Vanagon. For waterboxers with 20W50 oil and a VW, Mann, or Mahle filter, you should get at least 10 PSI for every 1000 RPM when the engine is fully warmed up. My advice to you is to install your own oil pressure gauge so that you can monitor your engine's health _before_ it throws a rod (although the 1.9L engine is not known for that). In any case, you'll have an idea of when to start saving your money for a Boston Engine rebuild. -Karl Karl & Kristina Bloss - Trexlertown, PA US West Trip, Nov-Dec, 2000: http://www.enter.net/~bloss/vwtrek |
