Jeff,
Check out the log from our recent trek out there (see .sig file below for
link). BAP (British Auto Parts) seems to be the place to go in Phoenix. Also,
hook up with listmember Karl Wolz...super nice guy.
Got to U-haul for propane...no minimum...very cheap. (oops, just checked out
your van specs...MV means no camper stuff)
Take a trip to the Saguaro Nat'l Park (the free western one). Drive up the
little pass that's a great lookout during sunset (visit the visitor center,
they'll tell you).
If you get that far south, go to Tombstone and Bisbee...we thought it was cool.
Dot's Diner is west of town after you go down the hill past the Lavender
copper pit. Take the traffic circle almost all the way around to the Shady
Dell RV park (check out the airstream trailers) and Dot's is right there.
FWIW, our '85 Westy made about 6000 miles. The only real show stopper was a CV
joint that was about to go. I put in a new half shaft (see the Arkansas page)
and we were back on the road.
Have fun!
