John

Sorry to hear about your glitch. I know just how you feel I have a transplanted 2.7 flat 6 Subaru Motor in my Vanagon and I have nearly the same problem.

My Van starts up perfectly and runs great for about 30 minutes. Then I experience a split second of complete engine stoppage. It fells like a complete shut down of the electrical system. As I said it only lasts a millisecond then the motor picks up and runs great for another five minutes and then repeats the cycle.

I do not have your problem of the van stalling.

Yes it is a pain in the butt. just not being able to find what the problem is the most annoying.

So far the wisdom of three separate lists haven't been able to come up with a solution however I will list the answers as they have advised me.

Fuel Filter Injectors Pressure Regulator Fuel Pump.

I have gone along these roads and had everything checked. The injectors, fuel tank, lines, pump have all been chemically cleaned - all ok, I even fitted a new filter still no luck.

Darrell Boehler suggested looking at the tacho when the power loss happens to see if the gauge goes straight to zero or jumps around. I tend to go along with his idea that it is an electrical problem rather that a fuel one. To that end I have checked the spliced harness for bad or dry solder joints and found none.

So far I have had no joy but this bugger will not beat me. It is simply a matter of trying everything and in the end finding that it was a silly basic simply problem all along
