<html><DIV>Speaking of Legacy Powered Vanagons, I just completed (an hour ago literally) a 700 mile drive from Boise to Seattle in an 88 Wolfsburg that&nbsp;a talented and patient P.O. put a 2.2 Subaru Legacy motor in.</DIV> <DIV>The trip was something out of Gumball Rally (if you havent seen this movie- see it. Hilarious take on a coast to coast race that actually occured)</DIV> <DIV>Anyway, to say these engines are smooth is really an understatement. The are indeed, and they like to rev. I was constantly fighting to keep the van under 80-85 mph, as I was not used to the pedal pressure that accomplishes what normally would have been a thrashing 70 mph, my normal flat land cruising speed. Where normally I would have been using momentum and advance planning to take hill climbs, I instead was just burping the throttle when I felt like it and going over whatever lay in front at 65-70 without full throttle. At one point along the Columbia River Gorge, I got it up to 95 mph before I shut it down ( for obvious reasons..)</DIV> <DIV>The engine honestly looks factory. This one is hitched to an automatic. The gas mileage was not as high as I anticpated, but I suspect it had a lot to do with my enthusiasm.</DIV> <DIV>I have the stock muffler, which Mr. Kennedy suggests replacing due to the back pressure.</DIV> <DIV>I may do that to gain some more power (not that I need it) and may "chip" it one day.</DIV> <DIV>The dream engine is that Soob Six, with 230 hp. But thats bucks, and finding someone willing to do the swap (with Kennedy's kit of course) seems to be a tall order. </DIV> <DIV>By the way, I spoke with Mr. Kennedy about his kit before I bought the van, and I was very impressed with how he took time personally to answer my questions.</DIV> <DIV>The only problem is I'm not sure if I will ever be satisfied with a normal 2.1 Vanagon ever again. Probably not.</DIV> <DIV>-steve</DIV> <DIV>seattle, wa</DIV><br clear=all><hr>Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at <a href="http://explorer.msn.com">http://explorer.msn.com</a><br></p></html>
