Subject: Re: 2nd request, where's my fuel pump relay?
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

Thanks all for the tips.

Apparently, the location of the fuel pump relay varies from model to model. (Sam and Joel were right as for my car.) On my 84 the black box is mounted on a bracket above the ignition coil. Several folks said theirs were on the left side of the firewall. I have a likely-looking box on the firewall in that location but inside it is nothing but single-wire connectors.

(My lid has pronging things on the side away from the engine and hingie things on the engine side. Or at least it did before I pried in the wrong direction. SNAP.)

I found mine before Sam or Joel's posts by doing the following: see page 24.31 of the bentley manual. The control unit on my car is behind the left brake light. Or you could follow a wire from a fuel injector to locate the control unit. By following all the cables from the control unit back toward the engine there is one large conduit or taped bundle, and wires peel off this and go to various things. Only one of the forks runs to a black box. Wherever it is, that's likely housing your fuel pump relay.

Thanks again for the help.
