Thanks to all the guys that sent tips on dealing with my suddenly non-starting CIVIC. It was more than a little unnerving to have a car that has been the paragon of dependability since December 1988 -- through three Alaskan winters -- suddenly cease to function without warning.

Turned out to be relatively minor. The coil contact inside the distributor had either fried and come apart or come apart and then fried. Pulled the cap and came up with a thimble full of junk and an extra piece. New coil and distributor cap and it runs like a champ again.

The timing belt sounded a little far fetched since I had it replaced at 60K and again at 120K -- cheaper than an engine.

Now back to that broken exhaust system stud on the 1.9.

Chuck
