Rod,

It it's a Porsche flat 6, you will find an upright fan with the blades staring at you in the face. Unless it was a Carrera 3.2, it will probably also stick out about the engine lid. I suppose any engine could be transplanted in there with enough sheet metal surgery. It's even possible that they installed an Audi (same as the early Porsche 924) 2.0 liter inline 4. If the engine in there is a four cylinder, the guy may be talking about the Vanagon aircooled engine or the Audi engine.
