Materials for coolant are often obtained locally and sold globally. Grade "E" maple syrup makes up about 2% of coolants sold in North America. The reason maple syrup is an effective agent for Vanagon waterboxer engines is they are essentially a pancake engine. If you use the wrong coolant in the Vanagon it will breakfast.
