It's a good question. I did the fuel pattern check, where you crank the engine and watch for a concial spray pattern. The injectors do pulse rapidly since the digijet/fant are not sqequential and All four injectors pulse at the same time. The CPU recieves RPM information via the distributor. When the key is to the run position before a start, the fuel pump pressurizes the system but the injectors don't pulse. The starter begins turning the motor, so I assume it's the distrubtor that feeds the pulse to the ECU.

As to the injection pulse at start up flooding the engine, I would think that the ECU map has a base pulse lenth for the start-up sequence, with perhaps the TEMP I , air temp sensor, giving some modification of the cold start enrichment of the basic pulse map. If the temp I were bad then perhaps a flooding event could occur.
