If: 1) the orientation is vertical 2) it has a hose that runs to the air intake boot 3) is located centrally just toward the passenger side of the case seam

then it is prolly the oil breather tower.

The leak is a real cheap fix, o-ring at the bottom. Get it from one of the vendors. If you have high mileage, while your are at it do the distributor o-ring as well. Beware though as it is not a regular round cross sectional o-ring it has a modified triangular shape to it. It's cheap too.
