John; Most FLAPs have a roll-around diagnostics cart with equipment to test the battery/starter/charger system. They successfully diagnosed the cause of this problem on our 85. I doubled the line between the alternator and starter to reduce voltage loss to the battery. Now I take my vehicles, once a year, to a shop that only sells batteries. They are more than happy to check and fill the battery. Yes, to my surprise these batteries need water. I now also buy all my batteries from them.
