I am also using Sylvania "Extra" lights on my '85 and they seem to do fine for around town driving. I am about to install some Hella driving lights to help out on those country roads where I can't always use my high beams. I was lucky to find a fog light switch, factory VW, that is a perfect match to my Vanagon switches. I'll be installing it in the blank spot on the lower right side of the dash.
