It's a valve cover to valve cover new engine that you attach all the existing components to from your old motor. The list price is about $2,250 but I got one for $2,000. However if I had it to do over I would probably deal with Boston Engine instead...........The VW dealer treated me like some kind of odd-ball, second-class citizen and actually asked why I would want to spend this kind of money on a Vanagon! With a OEM dealer attitude like this, it's no wonder that the Vanagon sales were lack-luster! Anyway the VW long block is a good value as I couldn't rebuild mine for $2,000. Whether you can substitute a 2.1L for a 1.9L is something I don't know. The VWoA exchange program core charge is a sobering $1,000 and I suspect that they don't accept 1.9L cores for 2.1L long blocks. Regards, John |
