Dan, for the record I jumped into this because the thread turned to UPS, who
I hate. I have nothing to say about this Bus Depot mirror packaging thing
because I wasn't there and I don't know the details. This rant was from my
personal experience with UPS.
If a VW vendor told me that I had to pay an additional 10% to 50% of the
value of my item (over and above additional shipping cost) because he was
sending the part to Canada I would flame them with equal fervour.
UPS levies this charge AFTER the package has been sent. The original sender
has no idea it is being charged and if you want your package you have to pay
it, it is EXTORTION.
ISN"T IT APPROPRIATE FOR ME TO WARN CANADIANS ON THIS LIST THAT THE METHOD
OF SHIPMENT THEY CHOOSE COULD COST THEM AND ADDITIONAL 10% TO %)% OF THE
COST OF THIER ITEM?
If there were two vendors on this list and one had prices that were 10% to
50% higher (all else equal) wouldn't everyone on the list be saying to buy
from the cheaper vendor? Isn't this ALREADY happening when we buy from list
vendors instead of VW dealers?
This list is a forum for members to help each other... by saving my fellow
Canadian listees money that is what I am doing.
Thanks,
