Adam,

You might try asking your VW service manager about working on a Vanagon. I think they would take an EV any day over a Vanagon.

The EV-Update list on egroups is a forum for EV owners to discuss their vans, share ideas and resolve problems. So any problem that any listmember has usually gets posted. This includes the small issues I have had. So not everyone is having problems and not all '93 engines are bad. Piston slap was an issue with the '92 and early '93 EVs. Most of those engines or the heads were replaced under warranty. I seem to remember a recall on the Vanagon waterboxer engines as well.

Having been on this list for many years and on the EV list for the past 2, I can tell you the majority of EV owners I know or have spoken to are just as adamant about their EuroVans as you are about your Vanagon.

If you were an outsider reading the Vanagon list what would you think? Just the endless discussions on engine swaps would send me running to the EV list.
