Mike-
That depends upon what you got with the new engine.  Is it a "short block"
or a complete turn-key engine?  We took the old engine out, put it next to
the new engine (short block) and swapped parts from old to new until we were
done (it's not that simple, but basically that's it.  Now is the time to
replace any stuff that wears out.  Clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing,
starter pinion, injection hoses etc., etc.  All of this stuff is 100% easier
to do with the engine out of the van.
