O, Pioneers!

Happy New Year, and congratulations! You're an Internet pioneer. You made it online by the millennium, 2001. OK, so we all know about the calendar thing, but if it really doesn't matter which millennium is the "real" one today, who's going to care in the future? Either way, you're a leader. In the future, people will tend to forget that the Internet, the World Wide Web and the cyberrevolution began in the late 20th century -- just like they tend to forget that people were driving cars in the late 19th century. Automobiles are a 20th-century technology, and the Internet will be remembered as a 21st-century technology. Most of the world isn't online yet, but it's coming, and in a big way. And if you're reading this, you can go down in history as a cyber-pioneer. If you drove a Benz or a Duryea back in 1898, you were ahead of your time and ahead of the curve. In the future, it won't matter if you were online in 1989 or Dec. 31, 2000 -- you were there!

Keith

"The only basis for living is believing in life, loving it, and applying the whole force of one's intellect to know it better." - Emile Zola, Le Docteur Pascal, 1893
