We have some more detailed information on the Microbus Concept that will debut at next weeks Detroit Auto Show...

Reportedly the Microbus concept is fairly close in spirit to the looks of the old Microbus, but don't look for a dead-on copy. The concept vehicle sports headlights similar to the ACC pickup truck concept with a large volkswagen logo prominently displayed on the large front hood area. A smaller grill opening on the lower front and two sheet metal cutouts on either side allow airflow to the engine compartment. The roof is covered in a brushed aluminum finish with metal ribs similar to past buses. Windows are vast all the way around and are darker tinted to give them one cohesive wrap-around look. Tail lamps are horizontal on the left and right sides mounted up high. The concept sits on large wheels with the typical VW family flared fender look. New unique slab-side wheels accent the whole package. There are sliding doors on both sides of the van along with seating for at least six or more people, which shows VW's likelihood to offer it for production in the next two years. The concept is finished in a two-tone paint scheme of a unique greenish-blue tint and may or may not feature a roof rack with surf boards attached.

We will have photos available as soon as they are released by Volkswagen.

In other news, Volkswagen is expected to announce a significant price cut to the current Eurovan to help get Van sales back on track here in North America.

We'll have the full report on Detroit in our North American International Auto Show Special Event forum.
