This has just started happening with my 87 (123,000). In my case, it happens when I'm going peddle-to-the-metal uphill in third (3,500-4,500 rpms) and I shift to fourth. One time it happened in shifting from second to third but in similar circumstances. As soon as I upshift, it feels like the engine cuts out, though the tach shows nothing abnormal. I immediately downshift and everything's fine. It doesn't stall but just _seems_ like it's died. After the third time on three separate trips, I've been taking the hills more slowly and waiting like a gun-shy dog for this hiccup to kick in.

Seems more fuel-related than electric. Like Paul, I'd welcome any clues.
