Subject: stop leak
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

At the risk of starting another long thread of controversy, I have a question about Barr's stop leak. I have just begun to develop a very slight coolant leak, looks like from the heads. There are drops now noticeable on the bottom of the engine, but no puddles yet on the ground, and the total refill / overflow tank drop is maybe 1/2" per week.

My mechanic says use Barr's leak, that the pelleted type was the stuff that clogged radiators; their newer liquid will not. I am dubious! Anyone out there with actual experience or scientific knowledge of this stuff? I'd like to postpone pulling the heads as long as I can, but neither do I want to start replacing other expensive components like the radiator.

Thanks, Jim Creech 87 Westy GL, 2.1
