Thank you for your considered, reasoned and well thought-out reply to
myself and to this forum. As you have probably already noticed, many on
the list don't hesitate to overreact to (INSERT TOPICS HERE), nor do we
lack for strong opinions. So you're in good company.
But to set the record straight...
I consider that my advice was correct for most T3/Vanagon owners, if not
entirely applicable to Jack's Australian Transporter. #1 cylinder is
closest to the flywheel. It is also on the right-hand side of the
vehicle, which may or may not be the "passenger" side, depending on
national identity/geography. I think Jack knows what I was saying, even
if I was unwittingly country-insensitive in my advice.
I will in future look at the email signatures to note if the post
originates from a Right-Hand Drive country before I reply.
