If you're lucky it will be dirty. But since you're not (that) lucky, it will in fact be worn through. I don't think they're very expensive from the dealer, but I've rebuilt one better than new with a circle of small brazing rod, silver-brazed on and ground flat. david ps -- don't wait around, I think the ring can tear up the fixed contact under some circumstances.
