If the fan motor does work but only at one level, I would suspect not
the motor but the large resistor that sits right above the motor.
Take a meter or a probe lamp and check that you have at least
continuity on the connections. If you don't I would look at
replacing the resistor.
Oh by the way I have a spare motor/resistor/casing available if you
need it.
