I put the temp sensor in so that I could remove the connector when checking the timing with the engine hot. I rotated the sensor until the wire is on the bottom so that I could reach in and remove it the easiest. It does not matter the direction the sensor is pointed. Top O ---- wire in connector I had it rotated the other way, but changed it to make getting the connector off easy. I have my exhaust pipes ceramic coated so getting to the plug is easy with no heat to burn or make removing the plug difficult. If you need to reach down to remove the connector, watch out for burns... Robert
